FAE Drones: LiDAR and photogrammetric acquisition for surveying teams

FAE Drones is a Romanian UAV engineering and services company founded in 2012. Through Discover LIDAR, we carry out terrain and corridor campaigns: the right platform and sensor, efficient acquisition, geodetic control, processing and a verified deliverable.

Mihai Dragu, engineer and technical lead at FAE Drones, directs technical decisions and verification. We work with surveying and design firms, including teams with their own drones, and with direct clients in Romania and the EU. Feasibility and logistics are assessed per project.

The engineering behind the service

Engineer Mihai Dragu leads FAE Drones' engineering decisions and technical verification. Platform design, sensor integration and software development support mission preparation and data delivery in the agreed formats.

We design, integrate and adapt platforms and software workflows, including third-party components and applications. UAV engineering continues in-house for our services; public drone sales ended in 2024.

In 2019, ProTV reported on the experimental Bucharest–Alba Iulia flight, covering 260 km across the Carpathians, presenting it as a world first. It is a milestone in FAE engineering, not a promise of operational range for a LiDAR mission. The ProTV report · FAE in the press

Subcontracting for surveying firms

FAE Partner includes subcontracting at a net rate and referrals with a commission agreed for payment after collection. Responsibilities, services and commercial terms are set before the work.
